Image Play-February
This month, Christina and I decided to pick images for each other. Here is what she chose for me.
At first I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I didn't want to do the obvious thing, which would be to make house quilt blocks in similar colors. I remembered that one day while driving around I came across this neighborhood, and from where my car was, you could see the rooftops of all the houses. So I packed up my camera and set out for a little scenic photo shoot.
So now I had the image, what the heck do I do with it?! I several ideas, all of which didn't pan out. So I started playing around with the idea of making it black and white and then transferring it to fabric somehow.
I used the tutorial from A Beautiful Mess to transfer my image to some white kona cotton. And I have to say, I love the distress effect it gives the photo. After it was dry I decided that I wanted to define the lines of the picture a little more.
And once I started, I couldn't stop. I started adding little swatches from my scrap bucket.

Here is my original picture

I am pretty happy with how it turned out. It was definitely a 'let's see how this goes' type of deal. I haven't decided what I am going to do with it yet. I kind of like all of the threads hanging off of it though.
I can't wait to see what next month's image is! Such a great way to be creative.
Happy Friday!
