Sew Mama Sew Cloud 9 Geocentric II Bag Challenge

I was SO stoked when Sew Mama Sew chose me to participate in their Geocentric II Bag challenge.

Cloud 9 fabric is releasing a line of organic cotton canvas called Geocentric II.  The line will have 3 new colors and 3 prints to play with!  I couldn't wait to see what colors and prints the sent me.

When I opened up my package from Cloud 9. I was pretty amazed.  The colors of this line are so vivid and the canvas is super soft.  I was pretty excited to cut into it.

I decided to make the Snap Tote , by the lovely Yahaira, because I thought the geometric loveliness of the fabric would lend itself well to the shape of the bag.

This fabric is perfect for bag making.  Ironing the pleats in this bag was a cinch because the fabric holds a crease so nicely.  But still soft enough so that when I folded the gusset in to snap it together, it wasn't difficult.

I went with the blue print for the main fabric because, let's face it, this is me.  :)  and the green print for the handles and inner pockets with a solid grey for the lining.

And I have to say that the combination is awesome.  I love the contrast of the silver snaps against the canvas-y texture and bright blue of the fabric.

I can't wait to get some more Geocentric II.  I have my eyes on the Diamond Sky print next, I think.

I loved working with this fabric and participating in the bag challenge.  Thanks so much Cloud 9 and Sew Mama Sew for letting me participate.  And be sure to check out Yahira's Snap Tote pattern!  So much fun to make.  There are definitely more snap totes in my future.
